On the drive back from Minnesota I reflect on trying to explain Twitter to old friends and deal with an flaunting iPhone user at the other end of the table as us.

This mirrors a sentiment I expressed recently on Twitter:

“Don’t get me wrong.. I totally want an iPhone. But every time I see someone using one I just want to slap them.”

And I completely relate to trying to explain Twitter to people. The last time I tried, the conversation concluded with my remarking, “And that’s why I hate trying to explain Twitter to people.”

I agree: I’ve recently tried to explain Twitter to a friend. I mainly highlighted the useful aspect of sending SMS text to Twitter, and Twitter relaying that information to your friends.

And as for an iphone, I don’t have one, but I do own an ipod touch. I have yet to have any problems with an accusatory “You just like flaunting your technology!”, but rather am plagued with an exclamation of “Oh my god! You can turn it and the screen moves too!” This is usually followed by vigorous spinning of my ipod.
